As seen in The Dallas Morning News: The East Dallas street that’s already home to lovable bars like The Old Monk and The Porch is getting several new neighbors.

Lawnie’s
Lawnie’s takes its name seriously: It’s on a lawn on Henderson Avenue, built to feel like you’re hanging out in somebody’s fun backyard. Lawnie’s says outside food is welcome, so just think of the options, East Dallasites! Grab a Pie Tap Pizza, a burger from Burger Schmurger or a snack from Sprouts or Trader Joe’s, then walk or drive it over for a patio hangout. We’re in prime patio season in Dallas-Fort Worth, and Lawnie’s is ready for the all-day crowd. Lawnie’s is at 2414 N. Henderson Avenue.

Local Public Eatery
The replacement concept for the former Henderson Tap House finally has an opening date: Sept. 26, 2024. The new spot, Local Public Eatery, is still very much a sports bar, but it has scaled back its predecessor’s cave-like ambiance with light wood accents and buckskin leather furnishings. The pub comes from the Canadian restaurant group behind Joey, which opened at NorthPark Center earlier this year. Guests can expect local drafts and cocktails like a spicy guava margarita. There are group-oriented drinks such as the “The Porron,” with the menu tag line “Pour wine on your friends. Possibly in their mouths.” Food includes a selection of pizzas and a range of elevated bar food, such as fried chicken and crispy potatoes, a truffle cheeseburger and fish and chips. Local Public Eatery is at 2323 N. Henderson Ave, #100.

The Charlotte
Remember Enrique Tomás? Or Cuba Libre? Or Alma? Or Mesero Miguel? All sold food and drinks at 2822 N. Henderson Ave., an iconic standalone restaurant that’s hard to miss as you’re traveling east on Henderson Avenue from Central Expressway in Dallas. The newest restaurant there, The Charlotte, is expected to open soon. It’s an American bistro with an all-day and all-night menu, a spokeswoman tells us, with dishes that will include “the perfect” smashburger, a Wagyu hot dog, jollof rice and more. This teaser video shows a pretty patio, plush banquettes and stylish wallpapers and paint. What’s the deal with the teddy bears? That’s the restaurant’s mascot. The Charlotte is at 2822 N. Henderson Ave., Dallas. It’s expected to open in September or October 2024.
